Mr Arbuthnot’s Cabinet of Curiosities

Modo worked with young people from the Buchan Area to create Mr Arbuthnot’s Cabinet of Curiosities, filled with objects inspired by Adam Arbuthnot’s remarkable collection of objects which forms the basis of the current Arbuthnot Museum collection.

The young people researched the objects and their histories to create the cabinet, the objects and the performances. The cabinet toured the North East was accompanied by a troupe of young people who both curate the cabinet and bring some of the objects to life through performances.

The project was delivered by Modo, commissioned by Aberdeenshire Museums Service and funded by Museums Galleries Scotland, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Aberdeenshire Council.
